Joey Doesn’t Share Food – Friends Episode Clip
This is one of Carl and I’s favorites, mainly because it is so reflective of our lives; in that I don’t share food. Over the past few years friends and family have learned that one of my biggest pet peeves is sharing food with people (especially Carl).
This really seems to tickle people that I’m not a food sharer. And really I’m not a great sharer in general. I don’t know if it’s because I’m one of four siblings. Or if it’s just one of those things that I was born with. I remember when I was younger (7 or 8), I had a cookie cake birthday cake. I hid it so that I wouldn’t have to share it with anyone. Of course I forgot about it and it went bad and grew mold.
I think that is a perfect metaphor for what stinginess breeds. I don’t want this “mine” mentality, but it is so hard to share things I love; things that are mine.
One of the things I have been exercising is something that I learned from the team I led in Hilton Head this summer:
Before you buy something, ask yourself if you would be okay with someone borrowing it. If not don’t buy it. Clothes, food, books, etc. It has been amazing to enter into this “agreement” with myself that if I buy something I have to be able to happily share it.
Things I will never share:
- My husband
- Not really a fan of sharing headphones which really means sharing earwax
It is definitely hard, but I have found a more joyful heart in spreading and sharing things that I love with people I love.
Things I Love to Share:
- My Opinion – Joking, sort of
